Buying at Auction

An auction is a public sale process in which registered buyers bid against each other. If the property reaches its reserve and you place the highest accepted bid, the sale is generally unconditional.

Prepare before auction day

  • Read the auction documents and ask your lawyer for advice.
  • Complete building, title, insurance and other due diligence.
  • Confirm finance and your maximum bidding limit.
  • Request any proposed changes to the auction terms early.
  • Register to bid and understand the identification requirements.

On auction day

Arrive early, ask any final process questions and bid only within the limit you have set. The auctioneer will explain how the auction will proceed. Vendor bids, if used, are made only as permitted by law and the auction conditions.
